NORTH HIGHLAND WAY

Some reasons not to invest in Scotland.

This week this journalist contacted Bank on Dave for advice about a money matter when the Bank of Scotland refused to open an account for her, despite the fact that she had banked with their partners, Lloyds, for over 40 years. No particular reason was given, they just didn’t want to. It must have been the accent or the fact that the business is registered in England. They said “don’t invest in Scotland”. Some time ago, the Orkney Renewable Energy Forum had wanted Dave to come north to talk to us, or give us an on line talk. He did not want to know. This journalist recalls Penelope Keith setting up a cafe in Scotland and getting so much aggravation, she closed it down and left. On 25 April, this journalist watched a webinar from the Scottish Fiscal Council. It was interesting to note that the Scottish National Adaptation Plan was mentioned, yet another organisation this journalist is kept out of, the Highlands version. It is probably because she has noted that the carbon from the Sutherland Space Hub is not offset against the Peatlands project.

So, reasons not to invest in Scotland.

  1. You buy a property, a bed and breakfast, which is very nice and you are welcome.
  2. You set up a Trust to help the local community. You are welcome until you become too successful, then you are made to close it down.
  3. You raise over £100000 for the local community, give your property and expertise, but the minute you stop doing things for free, it all changes.
  4. You are driven out of Scotland by bullying and harassment from the neighbours and because you want to launch the North Highland Way.
  5. You can never get a job because they don’t like you, even though you have high powered jobs all over the world.
  6. You continue with the North Highland Way project, but you realise that you are being opposed by a “charity” which is so much in deficit it should not exist at all. However, that’s OK as it is backed by politicians, OSCR and the SPSO.
  7. You are threatened by said local Councillor. Nothing is done.
  8. You are homeless due to matters in Northern Ireland. The Highland Council and the bully boys still put on pressure.

All because you want to assist your community. Luckily, I did have the foresight to register my business in England.

Brough Bay is on the North Highland Way. The book The Belfast Money Machine is published, and will no doubt be followed up to include outcome of the court cases and incidents in Scotland, both from 2013 – 2016 and from 2022.
